Project Leader of the Month

This month L.A. Works salutes Jay Ross, a long-term L.A. Works Project Leader with a long list of project experience. Jay is the "go-to" guy each month as he regularly trolls the potential Project list and agrees to "go-to" any project that doesn't already have a leader. Rather than devoting himself to a single project, Jay bats clean-up and makes sure that no project lacks a leader after everything else is claimed. Jay is also the official "jester" of L.A. Works, with his irreverant sense of humor:

Jay on Jay:
I was born in Pittsburgh and love the Steelers and Pirates and Iron City Beer. I went to Catholic school for most of life, and we harassed the nuns too much, so I feel guilty about that and volunteering at L.A. Works is a form
of perpetual penance. Then I went to UCLA where I partied too much at my fraternity, so I have some Catholic guilt relating to that, too.

Jay Ross

Now I live in Manhattan Beach with my dog Zena and wild roommate Cherie. I
play beach volleyball and roller hockey and go biking a lot, as well as try
to reclaim my youth at Sharkeez."

Some of Jay's favorite projects:
Dog adoptions, Gibbons Center, Ballona Wetlands environmental cleanup,
Burbank dancing, playing with children at Grammercy Place.

Thanks Jay for your tireless service to L.A. Works!
