  L.A. Works Makes it Easy to Volunteer in Los Angeles

Jazzin' up Los Angeles! -- Central Avenue Jazz District

  
L.A. Works Day 1999 was a tremendous success. On June 26th, over 1,000 Angelenos worked side-by-side to revitalize Central Avenue's historic Jazz District. On that day, we

  • Designed and created 17 exciting new murals to adorn the local school, day care center, and various agencies and businesses

  • Constructed and mosaic-tiled 20 trash receptacles installed along the corridor

  • Constructed and planted 39 redwood flowerboxes and placed them along Central Ave.

  • Created a unique mosaic-tiled wall along an entire city block

  • Repainted facades and signs for over 20 businesses

  • Sodded and landscaped 3,200 square feet

  • Painted buildings and playgrounds at the Wadsworth Ave. Elementary School.

  • Landscaped the historic Ralph Bunche Home
